Fabricator -- First Shift This role involves fabricating structural steel and metal components by reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders, and transforming raw materials into high-quality finished parts using a variety of metalworking tools and equipment. You will prepare materials for welding, perform layout and fit-up, and ensure all fabricated parts meet strict quality and dimensional standards while following established safety and lean manufacturing practices. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine fabrication requirements. Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble structural steel and metal components according to established specifications and tolerances. Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, presses, ironworkers, drill presses, plasma cutters, grinders, and other metalworking machinery safely and efficiently. Prepare materials for welding by fitting, beveling, cleaning, and aligning components to meet weld and dimensional requirements. Perform layout and fit-up activities to ensure components meet required dimensions, tolerances, and structural integrity. Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy, structural integrity, and compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments safely and effectively throughout the fabrication process. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of structural fabrication, metal fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, blueprints, and shop sketches. Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and levels. Knowledge of structural steel fabrication techniques and practices. Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and material-handling devices. You will join a small, focused fabrication team in a climate-controlled facility where safety, quality, and continuous improvement are central to daily operations. This position is based in a climate-controlled fabrication shop with a team of approximately six people in the fabrication department. You will work around structural steel and metal fabrication equipment such as saws, presses, ironworkers, drill presses, plasma cutters, grinders, and press brakes. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, supported by 5S and lean manufacturing principles. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
