Position Summary

Life Time is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer to lead our information security program at a pivotal stage of growth. As a large, publicly traded company with a national footprint and tens of thousands of team members, we need a leader who is equally credible with the Board and executive team and genuinely engaged with a high-caliber, high-leverage security organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Board & Executive Leadership

• Serve as the primary voice on information security to the Board, Audit Committee, and executive team, translating technical risk into business terms.
• Partner directly with General Counsel, the Risk Director, Compliance Director, and Chief Administrative Officer on risk calibration, budget, and enterprise strategy.

Program Strategy & Risk Management

• Set program strategy and priorities, making explicit, risk-based tradeoffs.
• Own the Enterprise Technology risk register, aligning governance, audit, and operations around shared priorities.
• Ensure compliance obligations (e.g., PCI, state privacy law, member/payment data protection, and growing health information exposure) are met through a right-sized, risk-calibrated approach.

Team Leadership & Force Multiplication

• Lead and grow a high-caliber team, empowering the Security Operations Leader and Principal Security Engineer on technical execution while setting risk tolerance and priorities.
• Extend the team's reach through automation/AI, tooling, and outsourced partners (MSSP/MDR).
• Act as a genuine technical thought partner engaged enough to make informed calls without needing to personally execute the work.

Operational & Incident Engagement

• Personally lead as executive decision-maker during major incidents, coordinating with Legal, Communications, Risk, Internal Audit, and other executive leadership while the technical team runs response.
• Stay close enough to daily operations to represent the program accurately to the Board and to the team at both strategic and tactical levels.

Position Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar field of study.
• Minimum of 15 years executive/consulting leadership in information security policy, standards, architecture, operations, technology and programs is required
• Proven experience as a CISO (or a functional CISO) at a comparable-scale organization with a similar operating model.
• You have operated in a leadership role with credibility in the boardroom as well as with a team doing the technical work.
• You have lead cross-functionally through trust and influence, with the capacity to bridge disparate groups
• Demonstrable capacity to work successfully in a fast paced growth-oriented environment.
• You are energized by building efficient, right-sized programs that address our material risks.
• A track record of prioritization able to speak specifically to material risks.
• Strong Board and executive presence, with experience partnering with peer executives (General Counsel, Risk Director, Compliance Director, CAO), not just reporting to them.
• Experience leading or partnering with strong technical individual contributors or managers (principal/staff-level engineers), with clear evidence of delegating technical authority appropriately.
• Working technical fluency across security operations, cloud/application security, identity, and risk/compliance sufficient to direct and evaluate work, even without personally executing it.
• Familiarity with the regulatory and risk landscape relevant to Life Time (member/customer data privacy, payment data, workforce data at scale, and health-related data).
• Excellent communication, able to pivot between Board-level narrative and technical depth as the audience requires.
• Strong experience leveraging AI tooling (e.g. Claude).

Certifications

• Required: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
• Strongly preferred: CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) reinforces the governance/risk/Board orientation this role demands.
• Preferred: CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) or CCISO (Certified Chief Information Security Officer), given the emphasis on enterprise risk ownership and executive leadership.

Pay

This is a salaried position starting at $199,000.00(or applicable minimum salary, if higher) and pays up to $288,000.00, based on experience and qualifications.
