As a Medical Assembler, you will work across multiple production areas to build precision components used in life-enhancing medical devices. You will operate specialized equipment, use microscopes and small hand tools, and follow detailed work instructions to assemble, inspect, and finish very small parts in both cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments. This role requires strong hand dexterity, comfort working with parts as small as a pen tip, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform coil winding operations in a cleanroom environment, including placing coils on winding mechanisms and operating coil winding machines to wrap metal coils around spindles for subsequent assembly processes.

• Use microscopes in the coiling area to inspect, cut, and manipulate wires as needed, spending approximately 30–50% of the day on microscope-based tasks once fully trained.

• Participate in cross-training across multiple assembly lines after initial training (typically 1–2 weeks), learning different stages of the medical device assembly process.

• Work in the molding area to inspect and deburr parts as they come off molding machines, smoothing surfaces and removing excess material or metal using tools such as pliers, files, and knives.

• Perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks in cleanroom molding operations while seated for 80–90% of the day, maintaining consistent quality and productivity.

• Assemble components in CEA assembly areas on multiple lines that produce specific parts for various medical products, using microscopes for approximately 60% of the shift.

• Follow travelers and written work instructions to complete assemblies in CEA areas, using small hand tools such as tweezers, pliers, files, and small wrenches with and without microscopes.

• Support laser welding operations in the cleanroom, working with laser welding machines and microscopes to weld and finish very small medical components that require high precision.

• Maintain exceptional attention to detail and fine hand dexterity when performing laser welding and other micro-assembly tasks, adjusting between sitting and standing as required by each process.

• Work in the implantable housings area (non-cleanroom) with automated presses and stamping machines to produce small metal parts and components, including casings for implantable stimulators and similar devices.

• Load materials into presses and stamping machines, run production processes, and remove finished parts, ensuring correct operation and output.

• Inspect parts produced in the housings area for accuracy and quality, deburring and filing components to remove excess material and achieve smooth finishes.

• Use microscopes as needed in the housings area for inspection and deburring tasks, and remain open to spending up to 50% of the day on microscope work.

• Alternate between sitting and standing throughout the shift, including days on your feet for up to 8 hours and days seated for more than half the day, depending on the assigned process.

• Work with microscopes regularly across various departments to perform visual inspections, precision cutting, manipulation, and assembly of small components.

• Operate and monitor machines that assist with assemblies, such as coil winding machines, molding equipment, laser welding machines, automated presses, and stamping machines.

• Use small hand tools under the microscope and without magnification, including tweezers, pliers, files, knives, skiving tools, and small wrenches, to assemble and finish parts.

• Handle and assemble parts approximately the size of a pen tip, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to tight tolerances.

• Follow detailed written work instructions and travelers to perform assembly, inspection, and finishing tasks accurately and consistently.

• Build medical components and parts used in devices such as stents, catheters, leads, stimulators, and other implantable or interventional products.

• Adhere to cleanroom gowning procedures, including wearing required protective garments and eyewear, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

• Demonstrate adaptability by learning and working in multiple areas and lines, and being open to reassignment to different departments based on fit and business needs.

• Apply good mechanical aptitude, particularly in the housings area, to understand machine operation, material flow, and basic troubleshooting within defined procedures.

• Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality throughout all tasks, using available personal protective equipment and following facility safety practices.

• Participate in team-based wellness and stretching breaks as scheduled, contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated hand dexterity suitable for working with very small parts and performing fine, repetitive motions, with experience from activities such as sewing or other detailed manual tasks considered highly relevant.

• 4–6+ months of experience in medical manufacturing or working with small parts in a production or assembly environment.

• 4–6+ months of experience using microscopes in an assembly, inspection, or manufacturing setting.

• Experience working in a cleanroom environment, including adherence to gowning procedures and cleanliness standards.

• Experience with assembly work, particularly medical device assembly or microscope-based assembly tasks.

• Ability to work comfortably with parts approximately the size of a pen tip while maintaining accuracy and quality.

• Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day and to alternate between sitting and standing as required by different processes.

• Comfort working with and around production machinery, including coil winding machines, molding equipment, laser welding machines, automated presses, and stamping machines.

• Ability to follow written work instructions and travelers accurately and consistently.

• Adaptability and willingness to be cross-trained across multiple lines and departments and to move to different areas if needed.

• Mechanical inclination for roles in the housings area, including basic understanding of machine operation and material handling.

• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality, particularly when performing laser welding and microscope-based assembly.

• Ability to work in both cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments, including areas with machine noise and light oil smells.

• Openness to working shifts that involve repetitive tasks, high concentration, and extended periods of microscope use.

• Commitment to safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment such as eye glasses and steel-toed shoe covers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in medical device manufacturing, medical device assembly, or related precision manufacturing environments.

• Background in microscope assembly or other roles requiring extensive use of magnification equipment.

• Experience with laser welding processes or other micro-welding techniques in a production setting.

• Familiarity with coil winding operations and handling fine wires or metal coils.

• Comfort using a variety of small hand tools, including tweezers, pliers, files, knives, skiving tools, and small wrenches for assembly and deburring.

• Ability to quickly learn new lines and processes, supporting cross-training efforts across coiling, molding, CEA assembly, laser welding, and implantable housings areas.

• Willingness to work in both cleanroom and non-cleanroom departments and to adjust to different environmental conditions, including varying noise levels and odors.

• Strong adaptability to changing daily tasks and physical demands, including different combinations of sitting and standing.

Work Environment

The facility is very clean, modern, and well-maintained, with both cleanroom and non-cleanroom production areas. Cleanroom positions require full gowning, including smocks, booties, hair nets, beard nets when applicable, and eye glasses, while still allowing for personal items such as makeup and jewelry within safety guidelines. In the cleanroom, you will work in controlled conditions with coil winding machines, molding equipment, laser welding machines, and multiple assembly lines that rely heavily on microscopes and small hand tools. Most cleanroom roles involve extended periods of sitting or standing, with some areas being highly repetitive and microscope-intensive. Non-cleanroom positions, such as the implantable housings area, require eye glasses and steel-toed shoe covers due to increased machinery. This area is louder and has a slight oil smell, though most people acclimate within about a week, and ear plugs are available if desired. Across all departments, you must be comfortable alternating between sitting and standing, sometimes being on your feet for a full 8-hour shift and other times seated for most of the day. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.53/hr.
