Scale Operator

We’re proud to combine the resources of a large company with the values and care of a family-run business.The Scale Operator will be mainly responsible for weighing in and weight out solid waste vehicles from both company drivers and third-party vendors/haulers. They will oversee receiving payments, checking loads, and always ensuring the safety of the landfill and scale.Serve as first point of contact for any drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale houseAccurately calculate and process payments, weights and other measurementsVerify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate materialVarious administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reportingProvide general upkeep of the scale houseAdditional duties as assigned.Work EnvironmentRequired to use motor coordination such as typing, machine operating, etc. throughout the greater part of the workdayDaily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc.Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.High school/GED education completed; higher education is a plus.Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience.Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.Experience working with scales is strongly preferred.Working knowledge of general computer skills.Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipmentConsistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems.Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus.This job description is intended to be an accurate representation of the general functions of the job, rather than exhaustive list of duties, responsibilities, or experience.
