Business Development Manager (Building Automation) Midvale, United States | Posted on 05/06/2026 We're seeking a Business Development Manager to lead growth efforts for one of our client's commercial controls divisions. Our client is an established player in the building automation space with a strong engineering backbone, long-standing contractor relationships, and a project portfolio spanning mission critical, industrial and large commercial facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and close new business across mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and end-user facility teams Build account strategies that convert specifications into booked projects and recurring service agreements Lead discovery meetings, site walks, and solution presentations for retrofit and new construction opportunities Partner with internal estimating and engineering teams to scope, price, and proposal complex control system projects Maintain accurate pipeline data, forecasts, and activity records inside the company CRM

QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of technical sales experience within building automation, controls, or mechanical systems Working knowledge of BMS platforms, HVAC equipment, and energy management strategies Proven track record selling into engineering firms, and facility contractors Strong technical presentation skills with the ability to translate system architecture into business value Experience managing a multi-stage sales cycle on technical product or solution sales Comfort reading mechanical drawings, sequences of operation, and project specifications Self-directed pipeline management and disciplined CRM hygiene Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred Design Hire is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
