Adjunct Instructor – Biology, Majors and Non-Majors, Ecology, Organismal (Temporary) DVC inspires, educates, and empowers a diverse community of students to transform their lives and their communities. DVC instructors close the equity gaps by fostering success among all students. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach major biology (Biosc-102), nonmajors biology (Biosc-101), and Principles of Organismal Biology, Evolution and Ecology (Biol-131). Duties and Responsibilities Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules. Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and critical thinking. Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grading student work. Meeting with students outside of class. Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Maintaining accurate academic records. Performing other related duties as assigned. Education Master’s degree in any biological science. OR Bachelor’s degree in any biological science AND Master’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent. Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to motivate and teach community college students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, preparation, learning styles, and/or disabilities. Demonstrated excellence in preparation and knowledge of Biology. Compensation Adjunct instructor classroom faculty pay rate ranges from $77.87 to $128.97 per hour (up to $151.16).
