Working closely with our talented engineering squad, you'll spearhead the evolution of our platform architecture while paving the way for future innovations.This role isn't just about coding—it's about laying the foundation that every other team builds on, and paving the path for growth opportunities across the organization. Dive into the dynamic world of legal tech and join us in shaping its future.What You'll DoActively engage in the full project lifecycle across the stack, with full ownership from conception to deployment and iteration.Architect and build the core infrastructure to manage large, high-throughput flows of data across our systems.Enable other engineering teams by building core platform functionality, including APIs, data export, and streaming capabilities.Design for configurability, giving teams across the organization the flexibility to build on top of the platform without reinventing it.Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product owners, and designers to develop efficient, innovative solutions.Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.Document technical interface requirements and convert specifications into technical designs.Optimize platform performance, reliability, and security to ensure the entire system runs smoothly at scale.What We Look ForDevelopment Experience: Over 5 years of hands-on, relevant experience building core platforms or infrastructure systems that other teams depend on.Technical Expertise: Strong foundation in building resilient, well-architected code and systems designed to handle large volumes of data reliably.API & Platform Design: Skilled in designing APIs, data export, and streaming systems that are secure, performant, and easy for other teams to build on.Fluent in SQL and strong relational databases fundamental to design data models that hold up at scale.Security & Performance Mindset: A high bar for security and performance in every design decision, from data access patterns to system architecture.Versatile Skillset: Fluent in multiple programming languages, with proficiency in TypeScript and Python preferred.Skilled Communication: Ability to communicate technical ideas or issues in easy-to-understand and actionable terms.Bonus: experience in AI, legal tech, and social impact projects.Benefits & Perks:Choice of medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for you and your family.Additional insurance coverage options for life, accident, or critical illness.Flexible paid time off, sick leave, short-term and long-term disability.10 US observed holidays, and Canadian statutory holidays by province.A home office stipend.401(k) for US-based employees and RRSP for Canada-based employees.Paid parental leave.A local in-person meet-up program.Hubs in San Francisco and Toronto.Notice to Candidates:To ensure fairness and proper consideration, we do not accept resumes or expressions of interest via email or social media messages.
