Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality machined parts according to blueprints and customer specifications. You will perform program edits, tooling adjustments, and inspections to ensure parts meet precise dimensional and quality standards in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to produce parts that meet blueprint and customer specifications.
• Load CNC programs, perform edits, and make adjustments to optimize production runs and maintain part quality.
• Perform machine setups for new jobs and changeovers, ensuring correct tooling, fixturing, and program selection.
• Make routine tool adjustments and replace worn or outdated tooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Read and interpret machined part blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
• Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges to inspect parts.
• Conduct final inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to specifications before release.
• Apply shop math to calculate dimensions, offsets, and machining parameters as needed for production.
• Monitor machine performance during production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality.
• Work collaboratively in a machine shop environment to support continuous improvement and safe operating practices.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of CNC setup and operation experience.
• Hands-on experience with CNC mills and lathes in a production or machine shop environment.
• Ability to set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading.
• Proficiency in editing CNC programs for production runs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret machined part blueprints and technical drawings.
• Prior experience performing final inspection of machined parts.
• Strong shop math skills for calculating dimensions, offsets, and machining parameters.
• Skilled use of precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Familiarity with CNC controls such as Haas and Fanuc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a machine shop producing machined parts for industrial applications.
• Experience in machining components related to pumps, water supply, filters, and tanks is beneficial.
• Comfort working with both CNC mill and lathe machines across various part families.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machining and dimensional issues.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, climate-controlled CNC department within a large manufacturing facility that produces pumps, water supply components, filters, and tanks. You will work with CNC mills and lathes, using controls such as Haas and Fanuc, alongside a range of precision measurement tools. The environment is organized and safety-focused, with support for appropriate safety footwear through a reimbursement program. The facility offers market-style lunch options on-site, contributing to a comfortable and efficient workday.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
