Maintenance Supervisor ( GMP / Pharma )

Location: Tarzana, CA Pay Rate: $45.00/hour Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Conversion) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (100% Onsite) Interview Process Round 1: 30-Minute Screening Call Round 2: 2 to 2.5-Hour Onsite Interview with the Team Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations supporting critical manufacturing and facility systems within a cell therapy production environment in Tarzana, CA. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable performance of equipment and facility assets that support patient-specific, time-sensitive therapies. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive maintenance mindset to help drive reliability, reduce downtime, and maintain compliance within a highly regulated GMP/FDA environment. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians. Establish and maintain high standards for safety, quality, and performance. Conduct daily meetings, shift handovers, and performance reviews. Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams. Maintenance Execution & Compliance Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, FDA, and site requirements. Review and approve maintenance work orders and documentation. Maintain accurate records within CMMS systems (SAP preferred). Oversee preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibration activities. Support audits and maintain inspection readiness. Reliability & Asset Management Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Improve equipment reliability through MTBF and MTTR initiatives. Identify recurring equipment issues and drive corrective actions. Partner with Engineering on equipment upgrades and lifecycle planning. Planning & Scheduling Work closely with maintenance planners to prioritize and schedule work. Ensure parts, permits, tools, and resources are available before execution. Optimize labor utilization and reduce reactive maintenance activities. Safety & Environmental Compliance Enforce safety programs including LOTO, confined space, and permit requirements. Conduct safety audits, observations, and incident investigations. Promote a strong safety-first culture. Continuous Improvement Drive initiatives focused on maintenance efficiency and reliability. Improve schedule compliance, PM effectiveness, and spare parts management. Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and process improvement activities. Required QualificationsEducation Technical diploma or apprenticeship in HVAC, Mechanical, Building Services, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline is a plus. Experience 8+ years of maintenance experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP-regulated environments. 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience. Strong background in equipment troubleshooting, reliability, and maintenance programs. Technical Skills Knowledge of GMP, GDP, and FDA regulations. Experience using CMMS systems (SAP preferred). Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Experience with RCA, FMEA, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs. Leadership Skills Strong team leadership and employee development abilities. Effective decision-making in fast-paced environments. Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
