Senior Accountant

This position operates at a higher analytical level providing key oversight of financial reconciliations, compliance, staff expense reviews, and specialized fund tracking. Responsibilities: Oversee accounting activities for assigned DNC departments, liaise with department managers and department head Ensure all receipts, including cash, credit cards, chargebacks, and other transactions, are recorded and reconciled daily Monitor all bank, merchant and revenue gateway accounts daily, recording activity in the daily cash sheets Maintain and update the reconciliation of restricted funds to accurately reflect payments, disbursements, and compliance Manage credit card GL coding accuracy and high-level account reconciliation and monitor complex balance sheet items Serve as a senior reviewer for staff and campaign expense reports, enforcing strict itemization and business justification standards Assist Finance Leadership in month-end and cycle-end closing procedures, variance analysis, and schedule preparation Prepare schedules and working papers for interim and annual external audits as well as regular compliance reviews Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting (or a relevant field) OR 4+ years of relevant hands-on accounting experience Comprehensive understanding of general accounting procedures, data entry standards, and completed data management Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets) Ability to work extended hours and weekends as dictated by the election calendar Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work cohesively with other staff members Confidentiality Ability to communicate concisely across multiple media Salary : The starting salary for the Staff Accountant position is $90,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
