Account Manager

Primary Responsibilities: Execute and promote products aligned to sales strategy in the assigned territory. Collaborate with the Neuroscience District Sales Manager on daily sales and strategy for product promotion. Analyze local market; develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize appropriate product use. Maintain current product, disease, competitive, and market reimbursement knowledge. Determine and monitor optimal resource allocation (e.g., budgets, time) in territory. Use advanced selling and negotiation skills to communicate effectively with target audiences. Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels. Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed. Manage travel and promotional budget. Complete required monitoring/reporting (expenses and call reporting) using approved systems. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Vanda policies. Meet industry-standard credentialing requirements for healthcare providers/customer facilities/state/local governments. Complete ad-hoc projects as needed. Qualifications & Experience: BS/BA with GPA > 3.0. Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales experience preferred; may be considered for “Associate” if not met. Atypical anti-psychotic and/or orphan drug experience preferred. Specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management preferred. Reimbursement experience preferred. Existing relationships (or within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in territory preferred. Valid driver’s license and clean driving history. Self-starter with proven above-average results; “hunter” mentality. Strong territory relationships/knowledge. Ability to travel (including overnights); must reside within territory geography. Work hours may include meetings outside normal hours. Performance Competencies: Goal/results driven; highly clinical, patient-centric; strong interpersonal/verbal/written communication. Navigate complex markets/organizations; excellent organization/work ethic. Manage multiple priorities independently; adapt quickly to roadblocks.
