Description

Spitzer Great Lakes Marina in Lorain is seeking a full-time or part-time, seasonal Yard Worker to help maintain the grounds and ensure boats are safely put in and taken out of the water.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Haul, block and launch boats
• The Yard Hand is responsible for assisting with carrying out tasks required to successfully achieve the service department objectives
• Work closely with the Yard Foreman and assist fellow crewmembers as needed
• Operate yard machinery including 50-Ton Travelift, 35-Ton hydraulic trailer, forklift, power washer, etc
• Grounds maintenance and marina cleanliness
• Availability to work overtime when required
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor
• Continuously follows policies and procedures while seeking out new and better ways of accomplishing duties
• Gladly provides responsive, and high level of service to our teammates and members
• Eagerly puts forth the extra effort to accomplish duties

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work varied hours/days, including weekend, holidays and lengthy shifts
• Ability to communicate with associates and customers
• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
• Ability to multi-task and work under limited supervision
• Ability to swim
• Consistently treats others with dignity and respect

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Submit to and successfully complete MVR, background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Valid driver's license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Outgoing, upbeat personality with excellent interpersonal skill
• Self-starter who is internally motivated to achieve established performance goals
• Reliable transportation and attendance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Boating experience or boat knowledge is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; scoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and use foot/feet to operate machines. Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs. And occasionally up to 100 lbs. (assisted). This includes repetitive bending and lifting of items to stack or dump. Must be able to work under hot or cool, wet, and sometimes-dusty, and loud conditions, dust mask, coveralls and, or hearing protection may be required. Moving safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces may be necessary.
