Production Floater / Operations Trainee

Location: Osceola, AR

Marathon Staffing is hiring a Production Floater / Operations Trainee for a fast-paced, cross-functional metal-processing environment. In this role, you’ll learn multiple areas of the plant and support production, quality, packaging, logistics, and startup priorities. If you’re reliable, technically curious, and ready to grow, this could be a great path toward future lead or supervisory development.

What you’ll do

• Support approved areas such as slitting support, packaging, quality support, material flow, staging, and shipping/receiving.
• Learn how incoming material, processing, inspection, packaging, storage, and shipment connect across the plant.
• Assist leadership with area readiness, supply checks, issue tracking, documentation follow-up, and shift handoffs.
• Identify and communicate bottlenecks, missing supplies, material-flow issues, housekeeping needs, and quality concerns.
• Follow work orders, labels, production priorities, and department-specific safety boundaries.
• Complete assigned production, inventory, and quality documentation accurately.
• Support training, standard-work development, and process improvement as requested.
• Stay flexible as startup priorities and assignments change.
• Build working knowledge of plant metrics such as downtime, scrap, yield, quality, and order completion.
• Demonstrate leadership potential through reliability, communication, ownership, and safe decision-making.

What you bring

• At least three (3) years of relevant manufacturing, industrial, or operations experience.
• Ability to learn multiple processes and understand how work moves between departments.
• Strong technical curiosity, problem-solving, and follow-through.
• Ability to read work orders, labels, production information, and basic measurements.
• Clear communication and good judgment to raise concerns promptly.
• Strong attendance, flexibility, and willingness to support changing priorities.
• Ability to work full-time on-site and safely perform the physical demands of multiple production areas.

Helpful (preferred) experience

• Steel, metals, automotive, heavy manufacturing, or industrial startup experience.
• Experience in lead/training/team coordination or supervisory development.
• Exposure to production metrics, quality systems, shipping, or inventory processes.
• Experience with ERP, scanners, or manufacturing systems.

Technical expectations

You’ll learn steel terminology, work orders, measurements, production flow, basic performance metrics, and system-based processes. Strong process thinking matters—understanding what happened, why it happened, who needs to know, and how to prevent recurrence.

Work environment

This is a cross-functional, on-site role that may move between production, logistics, quality, packaging, and administrative touchpoints. Work occurs around industrial equipment, steel material, forklifts, noise, and changing startup priorities.
