Work Environment

The PTA role is performed onsite in our hospital setting, where you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and nursing staff. You will work Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement rehabilitative care as directed by licensed Physical Therapists, ensuring adherence to individualized treatment plans tailored for each resident.
• Assist residents with therapeutic exercises designed to improve strength, mobility, and overall functional movement, including practice in proper techniques for performing daily activities.
• Accurately document patient progress and observations in electronic health records, effectively communicating updates to the therapy and nursing teams to ensure cohesive care.
• Provide education to residents and their families about prescribed home exercises, safety awareness, and resources to encourage ongoing recovery beyond the facility.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and actively participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings to discuss resident needs and progress.
• Create a positive and motivational environment that encourages resident engagement and fosters recovery by providing emotional support and encouragement.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The residents at our Skilled Nursing Facility primarily consist of elderly individuals recovering from surgeries or managing chronic health conditions. As a PTA, you will focus on enhancing functional mobility and improving the quality of life for patients facing various physical challenges. Your role is crucial in helping them regain independence and confidence during their recovery process.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Associate's Degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Active Virginia PTA license or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment.
• A strong foundation in clinical judgment combined with exceptional teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
• A genuine passion for providing outstanding care to the elderly population, demonstrating a commitment to service excellence.

Preferred Experience

• Two years of clinical experience as a PTA, preferably in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility environment, is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience with mobility training techniques and therapeutic modalities that support resident rehabilitation.
• Prior exposure to electronic documentation systems will be advantageous in fulfilling the documentation requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
