An established, high-end restaurant in Houston is seeking a talented Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on culinary leader with a strong fine-dining, French, Vietnamese, Asian, or upscale restaurant background. The ideal candidate enjoys refined cuisine, elevated guest experiences, high-volume service, and developing strong culinary teams.

The restaurant presents sophisticated Vietnamese cuisine with French-Colonial influences in an elegant, polished setting featuring multiple dining areas, private dining spaces, and an expansive outdoor terrace.

The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team to maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, execution, and kitchen standards while helping lead the daily operation.

What You'll Do

• Support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations and service
• Lead, coach, and develop BOH team members through hands-on training
• Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, presentation, consistency, and execution
• Assist with menu execution and seasonal culinary programming
• Oversee preparation, line execution, Expo, and overall service flow
• Conduct line checks and ensure proper preparation and product quality
• Maintain high standards for sanitation, organization, and food safety
• Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and product control
• Help monitor food cost, waste, and overall kitchen efficiency
• Maintain appropriate staffing and labor practices throughout service
• Establish clear expectations and accountability across the culinary team
• Work closely with FOH leadership to support an exceptional guest experience
• Step into stations and lead from the kitchen when needed
• Support the Executive Chef with training, scheduling, prep, and daily operational priorities

What We're Looking For

• Previous Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or similar culinary leadership experience
• Strong background in fine dining, upscale dining, luxury hospitality, or chef-driven restaurants
• French, Vietnamese, Asian, Southeast Asian, or other refined culinary experience is a plus
• Proven ability to lead and develop a professional BOH team
• Strong understanding of kitchen organization, service execution, food quality, and consistency
• Experience with ordering, inventory, food cost, and kitchen controls
• Comfortable operating in a high-volume restaurant environment
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example
• Professional and detail-oriented approach to culinary operations
• Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Compensation & Details

• $65,000 annual salary
