LHH is conducting an exclusive search for Skyway Concession Company, LLC in its search for a General Counsel to serve as the company's principal legal advisor and a key member of the leadership team.

This is an opportunity to join a 150 + year old well-capitalized business operating a critical transportation asset and work directly with executive leadership on the legal, commercial, operational, and strategic issues that impact the organization. The role offers broad exposure across commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, governance, labor matters, enterprise risk management, insurance, and business operations.
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, commercially minded attorney who enjoys partnering closely with business leaders, navigating complex issues, and helping an organization move forward while responsibly managing risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to executive leadership and stakeholders across the organization.
• Lead the negotiation, drafting, and management of significant commercial agreements, including financing, operational, and vendor contracts.
• Advise on regulatory and compliance matters within a highly regulated operating environment.
• Support governance initiatives and help strengthen compliance and enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Provide guidance on labor and employment issues, including matters involving unionized workforces.
• Partner with finance and operations leaders on insurance, risk allocation, and business strategy.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and legal spend as needed.
• Participate in key business discussions and provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice that supports organizational objectives.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will bring strong commercial judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and a business-oriented approach to problem solving.
Qualified candidates may come from either sophisticated law firm or in-house legal environments and should possess:

• Meaningful experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• A practical, collaborative approach to counseling business clients.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility across all levels of an organization.
• Experience supporting compliance, governance, risk management, or operational business matters.
• Exposure to infrastructure, construction, transportation, engineering, manufacturing, utilities, or other regulated industries is highly valued.
• Labor, insurance, and enterprise risk management experience are preferred but not required.

Location , Compensation and Benefits
This position is based in the company's downtown Chicago office and requires regular in-office presence. Target compensation is a base salary of $185,000 to $200,000 plus bonus. Skyway Concession Company offers a full benefits package that includes Medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k)-retirement savings plan with company match, fourteen (14) paid Company holidays per calendar year, fully paid Short-term disability, long-term disability, and basic life insurance coverage.
