About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: BSN Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Candidates must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Driver's license is required. Candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Description: Unit Notes: Department is focused on Medical Surgical and Orthopedic Trauma. The unit typically has 55 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, and sepsis. Nurses are required to titrate certain medications including heparin and lidocaine. Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take assignments. Patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1:10-20. Telemetry technicians will interpret strips, but RNs should have some telemetry awareness. Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. Travelers will be scheduled, and limited block scheduling will be approved. Weekend requirements typically involve working every other weekend. Holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's may require coverage of 2-3 holidays. Floating to other medical surgical areas may be required. Dress code is navy blue scrubs. Focus on patient care and responsiveness is essential for success on this unit. The unit serves a diverse patient population. Additional time off requests should be submitted upfront and additional requests may not be approved. The facility has a cancellation policy allowing for shifts to be canceled during the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
