TITLE: Coach QUALIFICATIONS: Successful coaching experience preferred CPR, AFEP Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid Courses or equivalent. REPORTS TO: Athletic Director JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports the District's mission and goals. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season. Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniform, as appropriate. Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. Works closely with middle school, junior varsity and freshman programs, as appropriate and/or makes suggestions that benefit athletes at all times. Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to keep abreast of changes and methods that would improve the program. Meets with parents, the news media, booster groups and youth organizations to improve public relations and encourages support for the sport and other athletic activities. Carries out procedures for the prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries. Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.
