Job Title: Staff Accountant Department: Finance & Accounting Reports To: Manager, Finance & Accounting FLSA: Exempt Employment Type: Full‑Time Location: Amerant Bank Arena Job Summary The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Finance team by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and assisting with day‑to‑day accounting operations. This is an excellent entry point for recent graduates or career changers with a strong interest in finance and the sports & entertainment industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and reclassifications. Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts monthly and maintain proper documentation. Reconcile daily cash and credit card deposits from F&B concession stands, bars, premium clubs, and retail outlets, investigating and resolving variances on an event‑by‑event basis. Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes to meet reporting deadlines. Collaborate with F&B managers, event managers, and departmental leads to gather financial data, reconcile point‑of‑sale reports, and resolve discrepancies. Support F&B cost tracking, including product cost analysis, inventory reconciliation, and event‑level profitability reporting for concession operations across all venues. Support Accounts Payable invoice and expense report process; assist with external audits, including gathering documentation and maintaining schedules. Support with special projects and process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent coursework). 3–5 years of accounting experience. Prior experience in food & beverage, hospitality, or multi‑unit retail accounting is preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Willingness to learn Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is an exempt (salary) position. Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
