Position Overview

Pamella Roland is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design & Development Assistant to support the Design team throughout the seasonal development process, from initial prototypes through handoff to Production.

This role combines creative and operational responsibilities, with a focus on samples, fittings, materials, and product information. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of garment development and enjoys the hands-on process of bringing luxury eveningwear from design concept to finished product.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and track prototypes and development samples, including shipments to and from vendors.
• Maintain the development calendar and track key deadlines, sample dates and delays.
• Maintain accurate product and development information throughout the season.
• Create and update tech packs with style information, sketches and development notes.
• Maintain BOMs, including fabrics, linings, trims and other garment components.
• Prepare and organize samples for design reviews, fittings and Production handoff.
• Support fittings, including sample preparation, model coordination, photos and development notes.
• Coordinate with vendors on prototypes, samples, trims and other development needs.
• Manage development trims and linings, including ordering, tracking and maintaining stock.
• Assist with embroidery and embellishment development as needed.
• Work closely with Design, Patternmaking/Technical and Production teams.
• Provide day-to-day organizational and administrative support to the Design team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Product Development or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in fashion design, product development or a similar role; relevant internships may be considered.
• Understanding of garment construction and the apparel development process.
• Familiarity with tech packs, BOMs and sample development.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with luxury womenswear, eveningwear, embroidery, embellishment or specialty fabrics is a plus.
• PLM or other product-development tracking experience is a plus.
