Civil Litigation Paralegal

Overview Goldberg Segalla is a national civil litigation law firm that represents major national and regional companies and insurance carriers in all aspects of business counseling, risk assessment and dispute resolution, including representation in claims, controversies and litigation involving personal and other injuries, property damage, contract disputes and business torts. The firm operates as a collaborative team with a strong national footprint. This role is located in Manhattan, NY and is eligible for hybrid work after on-site training is complete. Responsibilities Manage case files and maintain case deadlines. Draft and review legal documents; conduct legal research. Coordinate discovery and organize evidence; communicate with clients to gather information while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Support attorneys during trials (e.g., handling exhibits, taking notes, reviewing transcripts) and assist with trial preparation as directed. Assist with non-billable tasks related to case management; collaborate with attorneys and legal assistants. Maintain and manage daily billable time entries in the firm’s timekeeping system; document approvals as required by firm/client guidelines. Schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions with clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors as per client guidelines. Review challenges and write-offs as advised by attorneys and provide necessary information to Client Revenue as needed. Communicate with clients and witnesses to provide updates and ensure clear and effective communication. Support organizational tasks (e.g., maintaining physical and digital documents) and manage document management software and e-filing for discovery requests, responses, and motions. Collaborate with clients, witnesses, and professionals to foster strong relationships and ensure timely, accurate information flow. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred; paralegal certificate or 3+ years of paralegal experience. Strong written and verbal communication in English; ability to present legal information clearly to supervising attorneys. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams) and experience with document management software. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Willingness to work beyond normal hours and to work independently within guidelines. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Notary certification is a plus. Physical Requirements Regularly operate routine office equipment and sit for extended periods. May move objects up to 25 lbs from time to time; must have reliable transportation to the work location. Benefits This role offers an hourly salary with a bonus opportunity. Salary range: $26.00 to $38.00 per hour, with actual pay adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
