Staff Accountant

Compensation: $75-85k

Vaco is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join one of our large, PE backed healthcare clients. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations across different locations and work closely with the senior accountants and accounting director.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions
• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data
• Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
• Assist with variance analysis and expense tracking against budgets
• Prepare supporting schedules for leadership review
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency
• Support implementation or optimization of accounting systems and tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 1-3+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP fundamentals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
• CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
• Experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar)
