Senior Environmental Planner

Responsibilities Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: Lead and manage environmental review projects requiring compliance with NEPA, SEQRA, CEQR, and related regulatory requirements. Direct the preparation and review of environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, planning studies, land use documents, and permit applications. Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and financial performance to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, teaming partners, and stakeholders while identifying opportunities for new and repeat business. Support business development activities through proposal preparation, client outreach, marketing initiatives, and identification of new market opportunities. Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance on environmental review projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and consistency of deliverables. Supervise, mentor, and develop staff, fostering a collaborative work environment and supporting recruiting, training, and professional growth initiatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across CSA Group to support project delivery, client service, and achievement of business objectives. Requirements Essential Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5+ years of experience managing environmental review projects and programs. AICP and New Jersey Professional Planner certification a plus. Demonstrated experience with NEPA, SEQRA, and CEQR compliance. Strong project, financial, and client management experience, familiarity with VantagePoint a plus. Experience managing environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and multidisciplinary project teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and technical writing skills. Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
