Estate Planning Attorney About the Role: A respected and well-established law firm in the western suburbs of Chicago is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Senior Associate to join its growing Estate Planning Practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries on sophisticated estate planning, estate administration, tax planning, and business succession matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on complex wealth preservation and transfer strategies while building long-term relationships with clients and referral sources. This position offers substantial client contact, significant responsibility, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities Advise individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries on sophisticated estate planning matters. Draft and implement comprehensive estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and related instruments. Counsel clients on estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and income tax planning strategies. Assist clients with trust and estate administration matters. Advise business owners on succession planning, ownership transfers, and wealth preservation strategies. Work closely with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other professional advisors to develop customized planning solutions. Analyze complex financial and tax issues affecting estate planning objectives. Build and maintain strong client and referral source relationships. Participate in business development and client relationship initiatives. Provide practical and strategic legal counsel tailored to each client s unique circumstances. Requirements J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration. Significant experience with sophisticated estate and tax planning matters. Experience advising closely held businesses and business owners preferred. Strong knowledge of estate, gift, income, and transfer tax planning strategies. Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong financial and/or accounting background. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
