Grocery Manager

Overview Being in charge of multiple, customer-focused departments is a role that requires a passion for delivering an extraordinary customer service experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment. As a Grocery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will be responsible for the sales and operation of several departments, including Grocery, Dairy, Frozen Food, and Beer/Wine. Responsibilities Ensure proper product handling, rotation for freshness, and date controls. Control costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability, managing labor costs, and reducing shrink, damage, and pilferage. Assist in preparing the store for physical inventory counts. Assist or oversee unloading of trucks, verify deliveries against invoices, note shortages and overages, and report to suppliers. Manage ordering, compliance, sanitation, back‑room inventory, and department safety. Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one‑on‑one development discussions; complete bi‑annual performance reviews and recommend merit increases. Attend and participate in in‑store meetings. Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager. Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns and take corrective actions when needed, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination. Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency. Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members. Lead a team that delivers high quality products, excellent customer service, and a memorable shopping experience. Serve as a key carrier for the store and/or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed. Qualifications At least 18 years old with 1 year of managerial or supervisory experience within a multi‑department retail, hospitality, or service operation. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to give and receive direction in a team environment. Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards customers and team members. Proven leadership ability to motivate staff, maintain personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals. Detail‑oriented, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Food Safety certification with compliance to federal, state, and company regulations, including product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation. Strong organizational and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Physical requirements: lift up to 60 lbs. vertically, move up to 50 lbs. horizontally up to 5 feet, repetitive squatting, kneeling, and bending; work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Pay Range $19.80 – $31.70 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
