Assistant Project Manager

Assistant Project ManagerWe are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager with a background in construction project engineering. This role involves managing both large and small commercial construction projects, including schools, public buildings, fire stations, and hospitals. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in the construction field and will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from 2 to 14 projects at any given time, with average project values between 3 to 5 million.ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and direct activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods, time, and costs.Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions with architects, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.Schedule projects in logical steps and allocate time to meet deadlines.Explain plans and contract terms to field personnel, administrative staff, and other team members.Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve complaints and problems.Ensure long-term planning of the project is in place.Verify that all schedules are met and quality control is maintained.Assist co-workers with additional tasks to support the company's overall business objectives.Essential SkillsProven project management and construction management skills.Experience with both commercial and institutional construction projects.Familiarity with change orders and general construction practices.Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.Strong understanding of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of North Point Builders' policies, standards, and procedures.Understanding of company equipment, applications, and resources.Familiarity with the AIA 17 division breakdown is advantageous.Work EnvironmentThe position is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to job sites. The candidate will manage paperwork and oversee the superintendent and others on site. The office is located in a brand new facility with easy access off main highways and on-site parking. The work environment offers a small, personal feel with the opportunity to work directly with the president on larger projects.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Baltimore, MD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.NPB offers competitive benefits.
