NURSE PRACTITIONER, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Position Title Nurse Practitioner – Correctional Facility (Wasco State Prison, WSP) Salary $13,043.00 – $14,745.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Location Kern County, Wasco State Prison (WSP), in-office; no telework available. Responsibilities Assess and manage the health care needs of patients in ambulatory, inpatient, and specialized clinical settings under the supervision of the Chief Physician and Surgeon. Perform physical examinations, therapeutic procedures, and interpret routine laboratory and imaging results. Educate and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health matters. Provide call duties as assigned with backup supervision by a physician manager. Minimum Requirements Registered Nurse license in California. Nurse Practitioner certification by the Board of Registered Nurses. Clinical experience and education sufficient to meet the classification specifications (see Class Specification). Desired Qualifications Experience in correctional or security settings. Experience with ambulatory and inpatient patient care. Excellent communication and patient education skills.
