Job Description Job Description Associate Attorney — Trial Litigation Doyle Dennis Avery LLP | Houston, Texas About the Firm Doyle Dennis Avery LLP is a plaintiff-side trial firm that represents workers in high-stakes employment, maritime, railroad, and workplace injury litigation. Our attorneys try a case on average every three to four months, so we prepare every case for trial from day one. Our practice spans wrongful termination, whistleblower, and retaliation cases; maritime and offshore injury claims under the Jones Act and general maritime law; FELA railroad injury cases; and other serious workplace injury and death cases. Different cases, same fight: securing justice for workers in front of a jury. We believe the best advocates are the ones willing to fight for their clients before a jury. The Role We are seeking an associate attorney with approximately 0–3 years of experience to join our Houston office. (Exceptional candidates outside that range will also be considered.) While the position will focus largely on our employment docket—wrongful termination, whistleblower, and retaliation cases—the associate will also work on maritime, FELA, and workplace injury matters, gaining trial experience across the full range of the firm's practice. This is a hands-on litigation role: the associate will work on high‑stakes cases from intake through trial and appeal, with real responsibility from the start—not years of document review before seeing a courtroom. Associates are expected to appear in court, take and defend depositions, argue motions, participate in mediations, assist at trial, and, as their experience develops, assume responsibility for increasingly complex aspects of litigation. The centerpiece of this role is writing. We are looking for an excellent writer who can take ownership of the firm's briefing on complex issues in trial and appellate proceedings. Training and Growth We invest heavily in developing trial lawyers. This position includes training in trial advocacy and strategy from leading jury consultants and trial experts from around the country.
