RN Outpatient Treatment Program Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan, delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. The RN performs comprehensive patient assessments, administers medications, develops and evaluates individualized care plans, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes. This role includes managing medication inventory, documentation, and clinic operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policies.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
• Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and facilitate referrals and follow-up.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in electronic health records.
• Manage daily medication room operations including clinic opening and closing.
• Maintain medication inventory and supplies, ensuring quality control and compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement and safety activities.
• Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff and support orientation and mentoring of staff and students.
• Float to other departments or assignments as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Clinical competency assessment within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• High Risk Competency validation within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments, clinical decision-making, and nursing interventions independently.
• Strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform clinical duties requiring standing, bending, and kneeling.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced certifications relevant to specialty area (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC) obtained within six months of hire.
• Experience in specialty nursing areas or float assignments with required certifications.
• Familiarity with medication safety practices and infection prevention protocols.

Special Considerations:

• Must adhere to Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice and organizational policies.
• Accountability for nursing decisions, delegated tasks, and patient outcomes.
• Work environment includes moderate-to-high noise clinical settings.
• Participation in safety reporting and compliance with safe work practices required.

Scheduling:

• Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. 2 p.m.
• Saturday: 7 a.m. 10 a.m.
• Sunday: Closed.
• Holiday hours: 7 a.m. 10 a.m.
• Medication administration hours Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. 11 a.m.; Saturday: 7 a.m. 10 a.m.; Sunday: Closed.
• Admission hours Monday to Thursday: 7 a.m. 10 a.m. or as scheduled; closed Friday to Sunday.
