ACCOUNTANT

Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant serves as a key financial contributor and strategic business partner for multiple business units. The individual is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of the company, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with and owning month-end close, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role works closely with operations, FP&A, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and financial acumen with a hands-on, business-oriented mindset — driving profitability, accountability, and performance improvement across the entities.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracyPerform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepanciesAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesSupport accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting activitiesMaintain and reconcile prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany accountsAssist with inventory accounting and cost accounting processes (if manufacturing environment)Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentationSupport external audits and tax preparation activitiesEnsure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and proceduresAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysisParticipate in process improvement and accounting system enhancement initiativesEnsure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies, delivering timely consolidated financial results, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statementsDrive improvements in speed, accuracy, and analytical insights as part of the month-end close processEnsure consistent application of accrual-based accounting and standardization of journal entries, reconciliations, and schedulesImplement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure SOX or corporate compliancePerform ongoing risk assessment and recommend control enhancements to improve operational and financial integrityUphold sales and use tax compliance in and out of Avalara, processing tax returns as appropriate for each state for both Systems and ServicesQualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.Experience: 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experiencePrior experience in public accounting, in a multi-entity and/or manufacturing/distribution environment strongly preferredProven success in managing month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, internal controls, audit support, sales and use tax ownership, and tax coordinationExperience in a lean, fast-paced, private equity-owned middle market business environment preferred but not requiredTechnical Skills: Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and corporate financial reportingAdvanced proficiency in ERP systems (ideally NetSuite)Strong Excel skillsPersonal Attributes: Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilitiesBusiness-minded with a proactive, hands-on approach to supporting operational leadersAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing prioritiesExceptional communication, collaboration, and project management skills, and ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, executives, and external advisorsHigh integrity, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindsetFamiliarity with job costing, WIP tracking, and event/project lifecycle financials
