Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Valence Counseling Services, your daily tasks will include:

• Conducting thorough initial mental health evaluations for new clients, assessing their emotional, psychological, and social needs.

• Facilitating individual, couples, and group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to each client's unique situation.
\n
• Developing and implementing comprehensive, client-centered treatment plans that align with clinical diagnoses and support overall wellness.

• Documenting all sessions and treatment progress meticulously to comply with clinic guidelines and state regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

• Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and social workers, to provide integrated care and share insights on client progress.

• Participating in regular supervision and clinical meetings to foster professional growth, share strategies, and address challenging cases collaboratively.

• Upholding ethical standards and New York state licensure requirements in all client interactions and therapeutic practices.

Your role will entail working with a diverse population, including individuals from various cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. A key aspect of your work will be to provide sensitive care to marginalized communities and the LGBTQIA+ population, ensuring all clients receive equitable treatment that respects their identities and experiences.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in the State of New York.

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related mental health field from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably within outpatient or private practice settings.

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, the following experiences are highly preferred:

• Proficiency in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed care.

• Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong emphasis on clinical documentation.

• A collaborative, empathetic approach to mental health care that prioritizes client needs and fosters a safe therapeutic environment.

Compensation and Benefits\n

Valence Counseling Services offers a competitive compensation package, including:

• An annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience and caseload.

• Flexible scheduling options from Monday to Friday, with available evening and weekend slots if desired.
