Overview Job Description Registered Nurse (RN), Night Shift, Trauma Surgical Department UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the trauma surgical department for the Night Shift, 7PM-730AM at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Unit Description This unit consists of patient populations from many specialized surgical teams. Our patient population is admitted from the ER, SICU and PACU. Nursing care for the Trauma patient is focused on mobility, patient education, monitoring intake and outputs, and pain management. Our surgical specialties include ENT and urology who are consistently nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report. Trauma: UCMC is the area's only Adult Level 1 Trauma Center in the region. Our patients arrive from injuries sustained by motor vehicle crashes, gunshot wounds and unforeseen accidents. Serves as a moral agent in identifying and helping to resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Works on behalf of the patients. Makes ethical/moral decisions based on rules. Caring Practices Nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff which includes vigilance, engagement, and responsiveness of caregivers. Focus on the usual and customary needs of the patient at the present. Base care on standards and protocols. Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching the patient/family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills and answering questions.
