Buyer
Branchburg, NJ

The position will be hybrid. The candidate is expected to be on-site at least 3 days per week, with Monday and Tuesdays mandatory in the office.

Job Description
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule ( includes demonstrated ability to expedite purchases when required)
Assists in the review of bid proposals and negotiates contracts with vendors to obtain the most cost effective pricing for company as required.
Focuses on cost-savings and improving quality and service.
Assists the Purchasing Manager in vendor sourcing and other projects as required.
Follow-up on vendor deliveries and resolves any issues or discrepancies.
Maintains raw material vendors and approvals, vendor assessments, vendor evaluations, and vendor specifications.
Follows-up with delivery dates and scheduling releases from blanket orders.
Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues with required purchased items.
Sourcing of specialty and capital items for Engineering, R&D, Product Development etc...
Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and creates purchase orders in an ERP system for the majority of raw materials.
Manages raw material vendor performance as per ISO standards.
Assists with overflow of MRO ordering when required.
Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business or a related field
3 years of relevant experience in procurement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in using Google office applications including email, docs, sheets and slides or Microsoft equivalent applications
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capability
Ability to travel 5% to visit vendors and operating sites
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in chemicals industry
Experience in or supporting the electronics industry
Strong ERP system experience
Demonstrated ability to implement process and system improvements
Experience with supplier quality management systems
