Job Title: Non-Clinical - Administrative - Patient Services Coordinator
Location: Seattle, WA (ONSITE)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Working Hours: Day 5x8-Hour (08:30 - 17:00)
Total Weekly Hours: 40 hrs.

Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Seattle, WA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greets and directs patients and visitors presenting to all patient access areas within Swedish Health Services.
• Works closely with patient, families, visitors, physicians, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, or provide other information. Exhibits exceptional compassion and sensitivity to all.
• Demonstrates Culture of Safety values in daily operations. Is a patient advocate. Identifies special needs of patients (e.g. need for interpreter, wheelchair, too ill to wait at front desk) and communicates appropriately to assure safe patient care outcomes.
• Interviews patients applying Patient Selection and Creation P& Pand obtains patient demographic and insurance information. Documents complete and accurate information in EPIC ADT application including coverage eligibility, scanning and PCP information. Dispenses patient information brochures.
• Performs timely and accurate registration, sign-in/check-in functionality notification of patient arrival of all patient types.
• Validates patient's signature for consent/financial responsibility acknowledgement. Obtains and witnesses appropriate signatures.
• Obtains Advance Directive and Medicare information. Collects additional information as required by patients' circumstances (Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire, Important Message from Medicare etc.) to ensure Regulatory Compliance.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage utilizing computer applications and coordinates with Financial Counselors referral/authorization requirements as appropriate.
• Coordinates room assignments and general "Bed Liaison" functions as appropriate.
• Reviews patient admissions records for completeness and accuracy of registration data.
• Assists patients during hospital stay to complete registration data and identify medical plan coverage. Provides Financial Assistance Application as appropriate and assists in resolving billing issues for patients and/or directs patients to the appropriate personnel.
• Coordinates general patient flow including direct admits. Assists in problem solving around patient flow issues (e.g. wait time concerns).
• Establishes and adjusts priorities based on patient acuity and circumstances.
• Is able to discharge and transfer patients as requested.
• Collects private pay deposits, co-pays and out of pocket payments prior to discharge.
• Accepts, documents, secures and monitors patient valuables.
• Coordinates with designated staff resource to provide expert response to non-coverage issues and patient liability questions.
• Serves as contact personal for patient questions regarding charges and insurance coverage issues. Advises patients of alternate sources of coverage including Financial Assistance and private pay arrangements.
  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1 year of experience in medical office or related healthcare experience
