Locum - Physician - Neonatology Lansing, MI

UMH Sparrow Lansing Main Hospital is seeking a Board Certified Neonatologist to cover day shifts, night call, and weekends. Providers are expected to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of call. This is a short-term staffing assignment within a Level III NICU and Special Care Nursery setting, supporting neonatal patients and high-risk deliveries. The schedule includes a 10-hour day shift and 14-hour night home call shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections
• Manage ventilation including BiPAP/CPAP, oscillator ventilators, and nitric oxide (iNO) therapy
• Perform neonatal procedures such as chest tube, central line, arterial line, PA catheter, UVC, UAC, and PICC placements
• Manage emergency situations and neonatal resuscitation
• Supervise Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) when applicable
• Document care using EPIC EMR system

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Neonatology
• Ability to arrive within 30 minutes for on-call situations
• Experience performing advanced procedures listed above
• Credentialing process approximately 120+ days

Additional Details:

• Coverage Period: July 1, 2026 - July 1, 2027
• Patient Volume: Approximately 3 admissions per day, with an average of 31 patients daily in a 47-bed facility
• Call Ratio: 1:4 with a variable schedule due to staffing needs
• Facility Trauma Level: Level I Trauma Center
• Support Staff includes NICU Nurse Manager, OT, PT, dieticians, nursing staff, Child Life Specialists, and NNPs

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly rate: $312.00
• Malpractice insurance included in rates
• Orientation pay: half of the hourly rate
• Holiday pay: 1.5x hourly rate for applicable holidays
• Support for hotel, mileage at IRS standard rate, and flights when applicable
