Flex Litigation Associate / Counsel - Hourly Contract

We are expanding our team of experienced litigators for hourly contract work. This role gives lawyers on the roster the chance to do sophisticated work, contribute at a high level, and choose assignments that fit their interests and availability. Our matters involve AI, crypto, cybersecurity, deceptive business practices, complex business disputes, and class and mass actions. We represent plaintiffs and defendants in courts and arbitrations across the country. The work is fast-moving and often headed toward a hearing, arbitration, or trial. This role is great for lawyers who want to do excellent work on a flexible basis—without committing to a traditional multi-thousand hour year.

Lawyers on our flexible roster are embedded with our case teams. They work side by side with our lawyers, participate in strategy and case management, and have access to the same resources and support as the rest of the firm. We staff matters based on case needs, each lawyer's interests and availability, and fit for the assignment.

THE WORK

• Draft and revise substantive briefs, motions, and other written advocacy.

• Lead or manage discovery workstreams, including written discovery, document strategy, ESI, and expert or fact development.

• Prepare for, take, or defend depositions and help prepare witnesses.

• Develop case strategy, manage a demanding phase of a matter, and help prepare for hearings, arbitration, or trial.

• Step into an active case, take ownership of a defined workstream, and keep it moving with the core team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Significant litigation experience at a law firm, government office, or comparable practice.

• Love of writing.

• Experience managing cases, including complex discovery and depositions.

• Strong judgment, ownership, and the ability to integrate with a small team.

• Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Trial or arbitration experience is preferred, including meaningful responsibility for witnesses, evidence, or argument.

• Comfort and interest in modern legal technology and AI-assisted workflows, while protecting confidentiality and exercising independent legal judgment.

• Clear communication about availability, deadlines, and the assignments that best match your interests and experience.

THE ENGAGEMENT

This is a remote hourly contract role, not a full-time associate position. Work is offered project by project, and hours will scale up or down based on case needs, your availability and interests, and fit for the assignment. The roster does not promise a minimum number of hours or a set term. All assignments are subject to a conflicts check.

Compensation is $50–$85+ per hour, depending on seniority.
