Billing Representative

Overview Billing Representative at Apex Systems 3-month contract • Onsite 5x a week in Spring, TX Responsibilities Analyze patient accounts, research account history, and determine the appropriate information for billing patients and third-party insurance carriers within a specific time period. Prepare third-party billing for Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Champus, HMOs, PPOs, POSs, Workers Compensation, and Special Contracts. Analyze accounts for errors, adjustments, and credits; issue corrected entries when necessary. Communicate with hospital departments (Medical Records, Business Office, Accounting, Labs, Physical Therapy, Infusion Suites, Radiology, Materials Management) to clarify coding or charges needed to complete the billing process. Call insurance companies and/or patients to obtain missing or necessary information to complete the billing process. Maintain working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for specified services rendered. Monitor regulations set by compliance programs to maintain conformity. Utilize computer skills across software packages (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Electronic Billing, online reporting systems, Electronic Mail, database management, and mainframe/file server applications). Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports; maintain and monitor 72-hour reports, lab compliance reports, error forms, return mail procedures, productivity reports, and other departmental reports. Requirements Three (3) years hospital/medical insurance billing experience involving public contact, use of computers and related software, medical terminology, and forms completion. Knowledge of third-party billing procedures as well as state and federal regulations governing billing. Proficient PC skills including EPIC, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Electronic Billing system, imaging software, and calculator by touch. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to handle multiple priorities and/or special projects. EEO and Company Information Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
