PLEASE ALSO APPLY FOR Chaperone /Community Volunteer/Volunteer Coach Purpose Statement The job of Assistant Coach is to design and implement program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; provide supervision of student athletes during all aspects of their participation; use sound instructional techniques; serve as a positive role model to student athletes, the community and various organizations. Individuals in this job classification are assigned to a position for a specific sport at the Varsity, JV/Frosh or Junior High level. This job reports to the Athletic Director. Essential Functions Assesses student athletes for the purpose of providing feedback on individual performance and/or determining team placement. Attends meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. to receive and convey information related to their role. Communicates with parents, students, officials, administrators, and community to provide information, assistance, and direction. Instructs student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Maintains records (game/student athlete statistics, insurance, permission forms, emergency info, schedules, equipment inventories, etc.) to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements. Manages uniforms, equipment, and school facilities to maintain items responsibly and safely. Monitors athletes’ academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and provide intervention (e.g., counseling, tutoring). Supervises athletes during all areas of participation to ensure a minimal risk of injury. Teaches sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individuals for competition. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Responsibilities Work under limited supervision following standardized practices. Direct other persons within a small work unit. Utilize resources from other units as needed. Work Environment Physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Typical time: 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing. Exposed to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness. Experience : Job‑related experience required. Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
