Mastercam CNC Programmer

CNC Programmer (Mastercam | 3-5 Axis Mills & Lathes)

Location: Monrovia, CA

Pay: $45-$65/hr depending on experience

Schedule: 1st Shift - 5am - 3:30pm, 4 - 10 schedule, Mon - Thursday, heavy on Overtime. Mandatory OT on Fridays, Saturdays are optional.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with strong Mastercam programming experience and hands-on knowledge of 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes. This role will be responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs while supporting production, setup, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, be capable of programming from blueprints, and possess the ability to support machining operations from setup through final inspection.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam for multi-axis machining operations.
• Program and support 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills as well as CNC lathes.
• Develop machining strategies to improve cycle times, tooling performance, and overall efficiency.
• Perform machine setups, tool changes, offsets, and adjustments as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and process specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make program modifications to ensure quality and productivity goals are met.
• Verify first article and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with machinists, quality personnel, and engineering teams to support production requirements.
• Assist with fixture design, tooling selection, and process development.
• Perform deburring, grinding, tapping, cutting stock, and other secondary machining operations as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Proficiency with Mastercam programming software.
• Experience programming and supporting 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills.
• Experience programming and supporting CNC lathes.
• Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and work holding methods.
• Ability to perform machine setups, tool offsets, and process adjustments.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Ability to inspect parts to blueprint specifications and maintain tight tolerances.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Excellent math skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, medical device, defense, or high-precision manufacturing experience.
• Experience with fixture design and process optimization.
• Technical school, apprenticeship program, or equivalent machining education.
• Experience machining complex components with tight tolerances.
