Job Title: RN - PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 17:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of current PACU experience with orthopedic patient population License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year of current PACU experience with orthopedic patient population - PACU call experience Description: This role involves working in a post-anesthesia care unit. The unit has a total of 17 pre/post bays. The staff includes 3 full-time and 1 part-time staff members. Day shift staff is utilized in the unit, with PRN staff available to assist. Patient ratios are as follows: PreOp is 1:2, Phase 1 PACU is 1:1, and Phase 2 PACU is 1:2. Typical equipment used includes stretchers, EKG machines, blood glucose monitors, and Pyxis machines. The electronic medical records system in use is Meditech. Surgeries performed include total joint procedures, sports medicine, foot/ankle, some podiatry, hand, and nerve cases. General surgeries such as hernias, laparoscopic appendectomies, and laparoscopic cholecystectomies are also common. Breast cases with plastic reconstruction procedures may be performed. Candidates should be team players, flexible with shifts, dependable, and maintain a positive attitude. Familiarity with physical and occupational therapy instructions for joint patients is preferred. The unit boasts a great team morale with experienced nursing staff. The facility is recently built and noted for its cleanliness and beauty. Nurses will collaborate with floor nurses for patient admissions, fostering excellent teamwork.
