Summary An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Develops and implements treatment plans, including prescribing/ordering evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging. Conduct preventive health screening based on age, history, and patient needs. Maintains clear comprehensive records of patient care. Maintains knowledge of general disease processes and specialty literature. Synthesizes clinical data to derive correct diagnoses. Revises plans of care to meet changing needs. Prioritizes work to provide prompt and efficient client flow. Maintains high productivity standards. Leads or participates in projects to improve productivity. Performs medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines and clinical roles. Provides professional education to clients and families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up. Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family centered care. Develops educational materials. Gives instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and students. Recognizes and participates in self‑learning needs and attends education programs. Provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and students through precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning reports, and staff meetings. Participates in community and network outreach programs. Leads and develops community outreach initiatives. Understands healthcare contexts and applies that knowledge to improve delivery. Leads or participates in systems improvements. Interacts with patients and families respectfully, courteously, and promptly. Works collaboratively with coworkers, other team members, and staff. Responds quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems. Accepts responsibility for outcomes and shares workload with team members. Engages in continuous quality improvement, identifying and implementing improvement processes. Consults with management on assessment and problem‑solving. Leads interdisciplinary teams for integrated patient care. Initiates and revises protocols or guidelines based on evidence-based changes. Influences policy‑making bodies to improve patient care. Develops new clinical programs within the department to improve care. Other Information Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife) in North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Strong written and verbal communication, analytical skills. Effective documentation in the medical record for accurate billing.
