Advanced Practice Provider (PA) - Rex JMH Neonatal

Summary An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes medication consistent with guidelines, schedules follow-up, conducts preventive health screening, maintains clear comprehensive records, stays updated on disease processes and specialty literature, makes correct diagnoses, revises care plans, prioritizes work, assists staff, maintains productivity, leads or participates in productivity improvement projects, and performs medical procedures per departmental guidelines. Education: Educates clients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow‑up; collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity of care; develops educational materials; provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students; identifies and meets self‑learning needs; attends education programs as needed. Leadership: Provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and staff meetings; participates in community/network outreach programs; develops or leads outreach programs; applies knowledge of healthcare context to improve delivery; leads or participates in systems improvements. Professionalism: Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous and timely manner; works collaboratively with coworkers and team members; resolves problems quickly; accepts responsibility for work outcomes; shares overall workload. Quality/Research: Engages in continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing improvement processes; consults with management on clinical and system issues; leads interdisciplinary teams; initiates and revises protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence-based changes; influences policy‑making bodies to improve patient care; develops new clinical programs or services within the department/unit/clinic. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (PA) program. Licensure & Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. If hired into a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role, requires Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
