Assistant Development Officer, Athletics

Job Title Summary Job Title: Assistant Development Officer, Athletics Division: University Advancement Evaluation Group: Staff FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Director of Development, Athletics Positions Supervised: N/A Job Summary The assistant development officer, athletics advancement is responsible for annual giving, alumni engagement, and stewardship initiatives for the Athletics Department. Constituents served include individual donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends of the University. Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required for this title. This description is not a declaration of all specific duties and may be supplemented by additional tasks. Job Responsibilities and Execution Coordinate annual giving programs and events, such as the Black and Gold Benefit. Manage a portfolio of annual giving prospects. Oversee stewardship initiatives for the department. Collaborate with the Director of Alumni Relations to coordinate alumni engagement initiatives such as reunions and departmental awards programs. Assist with fundraising initiatives established by department leaders and Lindenwood’s Board of Trustees. Request fundraising reports as needed. Collaborate with the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics to coordinate End Zone Club and VIP room events along with sport alumni engagement events. Coordinate activities and outreach for the Lions Booster Club and other athletics donor programs. Service Excellence Support the mission of the University and serve as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence. Model, support, and hold others accountable to the University’s values. Cultivate strong relationships with individual donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends of the University to grow engagement and annual giving support. Coordinate departmental donor acknowledgement and stewardship program. Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration Plan programs that promote goodwill and foster relationships with community leaders; utilize University stakeholders, including the president, in the cultivation process. Advise the Senior Vice President for University Advancement, the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, the Associate Vice President for Advancement, and colleagues on internal and external constituency relations. Job may require other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications — An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position. Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 1 year experience in an advancement position or a position with transferable skills; internship or student employment experience can be used to meet this requirement. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities — May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this job competently. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of the grant preparation process, including researching, writing, and facilitating grant and private foundation funding. Knowledge of the field’s best and current concepts, practices, and procedures, including planned giving techniques and vehicles. Ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts of $1,000 and above. Empathetic listener with corresponding excellence in verbal and written communication. Detail oriented with ability to multi-task accurately under deadlines. Ability to use discretion with confidential information. Designated, quiet, distraction‑free workspace with reliable, high‑speed internet and camera for video calls. Standard Flex (Hybrid). Physical Abilities Ability to work effectively at a computer for up to eight hours daily. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to use repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements to type regularly. Adequately mobile to attend events on‑and off‑campus. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
