Quality Assurance / Quality Control Specialist

Location: Houston, TX Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour, DOE Target Rate: $22.00 per hour Shift: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM Schedule: Full-time Candidate Requirement: Local candidates only - relocation assistance is not available

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance/Quality Control professional to support incoming, in-process, and final inspections in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of quality assurance experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring equipment. The position will work closely with production, purchasing, suppliers, and customers to identify, document, and resolve quality issues while ensuring compliance with company quality and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

• University degree required; B.S. in Systems Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of Quality Assurance experience.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong decision-making, analytical, and judgment skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and sense of responsibility.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using measuring devices and inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of products and packaging materials.
• Forklift handling experience preferred/required as applicable.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform incoming inspections of raw materials and finished goods and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Approve new items and new product introductions and perform First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Create discrepancy reports for manufactured and traded products in MasterControl.
• Communicate rejection reports to Purchasing when discrepancies are identified with traded products.
• Identify and properly manage nonconforming products.
• Monitor and follow up on materials placed in the "on hold" location, both physically and within AX.
• Coordinate disposition of held materials, including credit notes, rework, reuse, or scrap.
• Work closely with Production to identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues.
• Verify that required inspections have been properly completed by production personnel.
• Train employees on acceptance/rejection criteria, first-piece approvals, in-process and final inspections, and proper use of measurement instruments.
• Communicate quality alerts and provide training related to quality requirements and nonconforming materials.
• Maintain organization and proper control of the "on hold" area.
• Support customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate product segregation when required and issue quality alerts and training.
• Support SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) activities.
• Follow and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 policies and procedures.
• Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
