Come from a banking background - Must have experience managing teams, consumer loans, marketing/promoting product - like to find someone to assist in building up the consumer loan business.

The Lending Manager serves as the primary leader for lending sales, business development, portfolio growth, and strategic initiatives while partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure lending operations align with the credit union's mission, financial goals, and member service standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Lending Production & Growth

• Develop and execute strategies to increase consumer loan production and overall lending volume.
• Improve the credit union's loan-to-share ratio through proactive business development efforts.
• Identify opportunities to expand loan products and increase member engagement.
• Build and maintain relationships with members, local businesses, dealerships, and community partners.
• Monitor lending trends, market conditions, and competitive offerings to identify growth opportunities.

Leadership & Staff Development

• Lead, coach, and mentor lending team members to improve performance and member service.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented lending culture.
• Establish individual and departmental performance goals.
• Support employee development through training, coaching, and succession planning.
• Promote accountability while encouraging professional growth.

Strategic Planning

• Partner with the CEO, CFO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors to support strategic lending initiatives.
• Provide recommendations on lending policies, products, and growth opportunities.
• Participate in long-range planning and organizational development efforts.
• Evaluate potential future lending opportunities, including indirect lending, commercial lending, and new market segments.

Credit Quality & Risk Management

• Ensure sound underwriting practices and adherence to established lending policies.
• Monitor portfolio performance, delinquency trends, charge-offs, and risk indicators.
• Collaborate with the Consumer Loan Supervisor to maintain consistency in underwriting and loan administration.
• Recommend policy or process improvements to enhance loan quality and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing consumer lending.

Operational Partnership

While the Consumer Loan Supervisor maintains responsibility for daily lending operations, workflow management, quality control, scheduling, and compliance monitoring, the Lending Manager provides oversight and leadership to ensure departmental goals are achieved.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of progressive lending experience in a credit union, bank, or financial institution.
• Minimum of two years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending, underwriting, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to motivate teams and drive business results.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

• Credit union experience.
• Experience leading lending growth initiatives.
• Familiarity with indirect lending programs and dealer relationships.
• Commercial lending knowledge or experience.
• CUNA, CCUE, or other lending-related certifications.
