Front Desk Clerk

The Harrison Group is a 3rd generation family business that has been owned and operated in Ocean City, Maryland, since 1951. The Harrison Group operates over fifteen hotels and seven restaurants from Ocean City, Maryland, Virginia Beach, Corolla, North Carolina, and Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The Harrison Group portfolio is constantly evolving. Yearly renovations take place at all of our properties to enhance and refresh the experience for our guests. Great effort is taken to continually improve our locations, enrich our guest experience, and perfect our hospitality. Front Desk Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Perform all check-in and check-out tasks.
  • Manage online and phone reservations.
  • Inform customers about payment methods and verify their credit card data.
  • Register guests collecting necessary information (like contact details and exact dates of their stay).
  • Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms.
  • Provide information about our hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
  • Respond to clients' complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully furnished to accommodate guests' needs.
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized services for VIP customers and event attendees, like wedding guests.
  • Upsell additional facilities and services when appropriate.
  • Maintain updated records of bookings and payments.
  • Performs additional duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Work experience as a Hotel Front Desk Agent, Receptionist, or similar role.
  • Experience with hotel reservation software, like Cloudbeds and RoomKeyPMS.
  • Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking and TripAdvisor.
  • Customer service attitude.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A degree in hotel management is a plus.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to walk, reach, bend, and stoop as needed to complete daily tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., handling luggage or packages).
  • Ability to use hands for repetitive motion (e.g., typing, using a phone or computer).
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the phone.
  • May be required to work varied shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
