Director of Accounting

We've been retained by our client, a well-established, privately-owned real estate investment and management firm, in search of a new Director, Investment & Property Accounting as the firm expands into new fund products and asset classes. This is a newly created leadership opportunity overseeing both the property and investment accounting functions across a complex portfolio of real estate investments, joint ventures, funds, and managed properties. Reporting to the VP of Accounting, this high- visibility role will partner closely with Asset Management, Development, Treasury, Tax, and executive leadership while leading a team of 5 direct reports. Key Responsibilities Lead the property and investment accounting functions across a diverse real estate portfolio Oversee financial reporting, consolidations, fund accounting, joint ventures, and investor reporting Manage external audits for properties, funds, and investment entities while partnering with external auditors Oversee fund administrator deliverables, including capital calls, investor reporting, and annual reporting Partner with Asset Management on valuations, waterfall calculations, acquisitions, dispositions, and new investment activity Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable accounting processes Lead and develop an experienced accounting team of 5 Qualifications 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, Minimum of 5 years in real estate or fund administration CPA required Foundation in public accounting Strong understanding of large real estate fund structures and complexities Demonstrated experience leading external audits Excellent people leadership skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring supervisors and managers A process-improvement mindset with hands-on experience automating processes and driving efficiency Location: Hybrid - 3 days onsite in Buckhead, GA #J-18808-Ljbffr Transcend Search & Strategy
