Position Summary

Summerford Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our healthcare team.

The Speech-Language Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and provide skilled speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing services to residents in accordance with individualized treatment plans and applicable professional standards. The SLP will collaborate with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support each resident's rehabilitation goals, safety, independence, and overall quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with professional standards and physician orders, as applicable.
• Provide skilled speech-language therapy interventions to address identified areas of need.
• Provide assessment and treatment related to swallowing and dysphagia, as appropriate.
• Monitor residents' progress and modify treatment approaches as clinically indicated.
• Document evaluations, treatments, progress, and other required information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding communication, cognition, swallowing, and related therapeutic strategies.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physical and occupational therapists, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Participate in care planning and communicate changes or concerns regarding residents' status.
• Follow all applicable facility policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centered care to every resident.

Qualifications

• Current Speech-Language Pathologist license in the State of Alabama.
• Master's degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA, or applicable clinical fellowship status as permitted by state and facility requirements.
• Current CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification as required.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting is preferred but not required.
