This role operates and sets up 3-axis CNC mills in a high-volume production environment, focusing on safety, quality, and repeatable processes. You will run CNC Haas mills and Robo Drills with Fanuc controls, perform changeovers between jobs, and ensure each production run meets dimensional and quality requirements. The position requires hands-on machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and precise use of measuring tools to maintain tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Haas mills, Robo Drills, and other 3-axis CNC machines using Fanuc controls in a production environment.
• Perform machine changeovers, including setting up 3-axis CNC machines for the next production run.
• Verify that the correct CNC program is loaded and running without errors before and during production.
• Insert, align, and adjust fixtures on t-plates using appropriate tools such as a torque wrench to secure fixtures properly.
• Perform tool touch-offs and update tool offsets as needed to maintain accurate dimensions.
• Load and unload parts consistently and safely to support high-volume, repetitive production.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other tools.
• Follow lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Complete required departmental paperwork accurately and legibly in accordance with work instructions.
• Apply basic math skills to verify measurements, interpret dimensions, and confirm part conformance.
• Adhere to safety procedures and quality standards at all times to ensure safe machine operation and high-quality parts.
• Learn and follow standardized processes in a repetitive production setting, adapting to new setups and procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and support staff to resolve issues related to machine setup, quality, or production flow.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment, specifically CNC mills.
• Ability to operate CNC Haas mills and Robo Drills with Fanuc controls.
• Hands-on experience with 3-axis CNC machine setup and operation.
• Ability to perform machine changeovers, including setting up fixtures and verifying programs.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools.
• Ability to read and write at a level equivalent to a high school education to follow written instructions and complete paperwork.
• One year of experience in machine operation with a Haas CNC or relevant comparable experience (preferred).
• Basic math skills to interpret measurements, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality in a production environment.
• Ability to work in a repetitive, high-volume production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with vertical milling machines and mill machine operation.
• in lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma concepts.
• Experience performing dimensional inspection in a production environment.
• Comfort working with standardized processes rather than job shop-style work.
• Interest in continuous learning, especially in mastering new setups and improving efficiency.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production manufacturing facility operating primarily on a first shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with regular workweeks close to 50 hours and optional Saturday work for those who are flexible. The environment centers on high-volume, repetitive production rather than job shop work, with a strong focus on standardized processes, safety, and quality. You will work with CNC Haas mills, Robo Drills, and Fanuc controls, using calibrated precision measuring tools such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, and pin gauges as part of daily dimensional inspections. The facility promotes lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement, providing a structured, process-driven setting where learning the process and refining setups is a key part of the job.

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $26.25 - $30.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
