About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required, preference for 2 years License: Valid Michigan RN License required Certifications: BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: Must be willing to work with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs. Description: Offering up to 26 weeks for this position. An ASAP start is desired. Must be available for the first 2 weeks of assignment for orientation. 36 or 48 hour weeks are available. Floating to other Medical Surgical units is required based on unit needs. Every other weekend commitment is required. Staffing ratio is typically 1:5-6 for nights, with some fluctuations. Floating typically occurs once per week. The unit sees a mix of medical patients and specialties including orthopedics, neurovascular, cardiopulmonary, and surgical patients. Previous charge experience is preferred. Preference for candidates with charting system experience, especially Epic. Experience in community hospitals is preferred. Specific skills required include management of various medical procedures and patient care protocols. Daily patient ages include adults and geriatrics. The daily census is around 30 patients with a total of 30 beds. Support services available encompass IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, among others. Patient diagnoses may include neurological disorders, elective total joint replacements, and ortho fractures. Special procedures and equipment used in this unit include traction devices and mobility aids. A background policy requires disclosure of any license or background hits that may affect submission. Proof of Flu vaccination is required. Modules are non-billable and self-reported, completing annually. References must be provided from a supervisory level.
